Discharge<\/h1>\n

Discharge is a clear fluid from the vagina that helps moisten the mucous membranes and keeps the vagina clean. It usually starts when you enter puberty and changes along with your menstrual cycle. It acts as the vagina\u2019s natural protection against infections and is a good thing that is entirely natural.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

What does it look and smell like?<\/h2>\n

Discharges comes in different colors, amounts and consistencies. They can be clear, white, sticky etc. The list goes on. What they look like and what consistency they have depends on where you are in your menstrual cycle.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n

The nature of vaginal discharge varies depending on the stage of your menstrual cycle. Before ovulation, it is typically thinner, becoming thicker and more abundant around ovulation. During this time, the discharge often has a stringy, stretchy consistency resembling egg white. After ovulation, the discharge usually decreases in quantity and may take on a more yellowish hue. Additionally, you might notice pink or brown discharge before or after your period, which occurs when the discharge mixes with menstrual fluid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

During arousal<\/h2>\n

When you are aroused the vagina produces a luquid which is called lubrication, the vagina\u2019s own natural lube3<\/sup>. You should therefore be properly aroused during sexual intercourse, to make sure the vagina has time to become sufficiently moist to reduce friction to the mucous membranes.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n
