WHAT ARE PROBIOTICS?<\/h2>\n

Probiotics<\/a> is a term that refers to beneficial bacteria primarily found in our intestines, and also present in the vagina. The probiotics residing in the vagina primarily comprise lactic acid bacteria. These bacteria play a pivotal role in establishing an acidic environment that is unfavorable for the growth of undesirable bacteria.<\/p>\n

Why use probiotic tampons?<\/h2>\n

During menstruation, the body’s estrogen levels are at their lowest, leading to reduced natural growth of lactic acid bacteria compared to other times. These bacteria are crucial for good intimate health as they produce lactic acid, which lowers the pH level in the vagina, creating an environment where harmful and unwanted bacteria cannot thrive. Ellen’s probiotic tampons contain probiotics consisting of the same natural lactic acid bacteria found in a healthy female genital area. The probiotics are placed inside the tampon and you can even see them with the naked eye if you open the tampon. When the tampon is moistened by the warm menstrual fluid, the bacteria are released from the tampon and into the vagina. There, they help lower the pH value and thereby maintain the pH balance.<\/p>\n
