Dry mucous membranes
It is not only in menopause that one can suffer from dry and brittle mucous membranes. Hormone changes, for example in connection with pregnancy and breastfeeding, can also affect the mucous membranes in the vagina.
New routines
Our modern lifestyle is not always favorable for the intimate area. Excessive intimate hygiene and products that are not adapted to the intimate area, can dry out and give a dry and chafing feeling. It is therefore important to use products that are gentle, if you want to wash with more than only water.
Hormones
In connection with the menopause, oestrogen levels begin to decrease and many women experience menopausal symptoms, such as hot flushes. The mucous membranes in the vagina can be affected and become less elastic, and the vaginal tissue turn thinner and dryer. One can experience a rubbing, burning sensation in the vagina and small bleeds may occur.
Lubricate
Dry mucous membranes can give a chafing feeling, then it might feel to lubricate the outer intimate area. ellen® Probiotic Cream is a hormone-free intimate cream with emollient coconut oil and lactic acid bacteria with moisturizing properties. The intimate cream does not contain perfume or water to prevent it from drying out, nor does it contain any preservative.
Seek help
It is important that you seek help from a gynecologist or a doctor when you experience something abnormal in the abdomen, so that you can get the right help.
