Menopause – dry mucous membranes
Dry mucous membranes are common during menopause since the estrogen levels decrease. Estrogen affects many of the body’s organs, which means that you can experience various symptoms and problems in during menopause. One of the most common is dry mucous membranes.
You can experience a burning sensation in your intimate area during menopause due to thinner and drier mucous membranes. It can also hurt during vaginal intercourse and even small bleeding can occur. Dry mucous membranes in the abdomen can lead to reduced sex drive.
pH value during menopause
The vaginal flora of a fertile, healthy woman is dominated by lactic acid bacteria, which create an acidic environment. An acidic environment is prerequisite for a healthy vagina. In menopause, the pH value is higher and the environment is no longer as acidic, making the mucous more receptive to bacteria.
Lubricate the vulva
It can feel nice to lubricate the genital area when it is dry. ellen® Probiotic Cream contains lactic acid bacteria with hydrating properties and softening coconut oil. The intimate cream is hormone-free and does not contain any water, in order not to dry out sensitive mucous membranes.
