Menopause – dry mucous membranes
Dry mucous membranes are a common symptom of menopause, as estrogen levels decrease. Since estrogen plays a role in the health of many organs in the body, its decline can lead to a variety of symptoms and issues. One of the most frequent concerns is dryness in the mucous membranes.
As the tissues in your intimate area become thinner and drier, you may experience a burning sensation. This can also cause discomfort during vaginal intercourse, and in some cases, light bleeding may occur. Additionally, the dryness can lead to a reduced sex drive, affecting your overall sense of intimacy.
pH value during menopause
The vaginal flora of a fertile, healthy woman is dominated by lactic acid bacteria, which create an acidic environment. An acidic environment is prerequisite for a healthy vagina. In menopause, the pH value is higher and the environment is no longer as acidic, making the mucous more receptive to bacteria.
Lubricate the vulva
It can feel nice to lubricate the genital area when it is dry. ellen® Probiotic Cream contains lactic acid bacteria with hydrating properties and softening coconut oil. The intimate cream is hormone-free and does not contain any water, in order not to dry out sensitive mucous membranes.
